Bulbajer’s Encyclopedia – KIRBY AIR RIDE VEHICLE GUIDE

This page examines the machines used in the Nintendo GameCube game Kirby Air Ride.

Warpstar - a well-balanced vehicle, designed as an all-around multi-purpose machine and also the game mascot. HP: 4; Speed: 3; Glide: 3; Offense: 3; Control: 3. Bulbajer’s rating: 7th (out of 20)

Winged Star - not that great on the ground, but a great (especially long-distance) glider. Try bouncing off the ground. One of Bulbajer’s personal favorites. HP: 2; Speed: 3; Glide: 5; Offense: 2; Control: 2. Bulbajer’s rating: 10th

Compact Star - the most basic vehicle of all. Only available in City Trial. Great for beginners, but otherwise poor. HP: 1; Speed: 1; Glide: 2; Offense: 1; Control: 5. Bulbajer’s rating: 19th

Shadow Star - not all that fast, but light, easy to control, and dangerous when on the offensive. Star Trail is very powerful. Gliding is exceptional. One of Bulbajer’s personal favorites. HP: 2; Speed: 2; Glide: 5; Offense: 4; Control: 4. Bulbajer’s rating: 6th

Swerve Star – acceleration and stopping are instant, but must stop to turn. Very fast, but hard to control. HP: 2; Speed: 5; Glide: 2; Offense: 2; Control: 1. Bulbajer’s rating: 14th

Wagon Star - can’t charge up, but fast, powerful, and sturdy. One of Bulbajer’s personal favorites. HP: 5; Speed: 4; Glide: 2; Offense: 3; Control: 3. Bulbajer’s rating: 5th

Rocket Star - shoots like a rocket when you charge up and when hit boost pads and Star Trail is immensely powerful. Otherwise very poor. HP: 5; Speed: 1; Glide: 1; Offense: 3; Control: 1. Bulbajer’s rating: 17th

Formula Star - if kept going straight for a while and if you hit boost pads, speed will build up to an immensely high speeds. Otherwise extremely poor, prone to getting stuck. HP: 2; Speed: 1; Glide: 1; Offense: 3; Control: 1. Bulbajer’s rating: 20th

Turbo Star - very fast, but acceleration is somewhat tedious and control takes getting used to. One of Bulbajer’s personal favorites. HP: 2; Speed: 4; Glide: 1; Offense: 3; Control: 2. Bulbajer’s rating: 13th

Slick Star- “slides” across surfaces. Usually needs to slow down to turn. Control is difficult. HP: 4; Speed: 3; Glide: 1; Offense: 2; Control: 1. Bulbajer’s rating: 15th

Jet Star- rather slow on the ground, but gets a boost of speed when going off jumps. Able to climb vertically for a few seconds. HP: 4; Speed: 2; Glide: 4; Offense: 2; Control: 3. Bulbajer’s rating: 9th

Bulk Star- has to charge up in order to move; uses charge as fuel, which runs out in a few moments. Neither picks up nor leaves star trails. Sturdy and top speed is very high, but very poor practically. HP: 5; Speed: 1; Glide: 1; Offense: 3; Control: 1. Bulbajer’s rating: 18th

Wheelie Bike- the Wheelie family all ride on one wheel like a unicycle. Gets huge boosts from boost pads and jumps. HP: 3; Speed: 3; Glide: 2; Offense: 3; Control: 2. Bulbajer’s rating: 12th

Wheelie Scooter- small, light, not very fast. Control is elementary. Able to jump very high vertically and very far horizontally. Gets huge boosts from boost pads and jumps. One of Bulbajer’s personal favorites. HP: 2; Speed: 1; Glide: 2; Offense: 1; Control: 5. Bulbajer’s rating: 16th

Rex Wheelie – one sturdy, intimidating ride. Speed and offense are very high, but acceleration is slow and control is very difficult. Gets huge boosts from boost pads. HP: 5; Speed: 5; Glide: 1; Offense: 4; Control: 1. Bulbajer’s rating: 8th

Hydra – legendary vehicle in City Trial. Must charge up to move, which takes a long time, but speed and offense and sturdiness are unimaginable. Very difficult to control. One of Bulbajer’s personal favorites. HP: 6; Speed: 7; Glide: 3; Offense: 6; Control: 1. Bulbajer’s rating: 2nd

Dragoon - legendary vehicle in City Trial. Very difficult to control, but speed is very high on land and unimaginable in the air. Gliding power is unimaginable. Able to climb vertically. One of Bulbajer’s personal favorites. HP: 5; Speed: 6; Glide: 7; Offense: 4; Control: 1. Bulbajer’s rating: 1st

Meta Knight – no Kirby rider, so when in City Trial Free Run, you will not able to get off or recover from being knocked out. Not available in City Trial Start Game mode. Neither picks up nor leaves star trails; can not charge up. Has perpetual Sword ability. Quick-Spin is unique. Fast and dangerous. One of Bulbajer’s personal favorites. HP: 3; Speed: 4; Glide: 2; Offense: 5; Control: 4. Bulbajer’s rating: 4th

King Dedede – no Kirby rider, so when in City Trial Free Run, you will not be able to get off or recover from being knocked out. Not available in City Trial Start Game mode. Has perpetual Mallet ability. Similar to Wheelie Bike, except heavier. HP: 4; Speed: 3; Glide: 1; Offense: 4; Control: 2. Bulbajer’s rating: 11th

Flight Warpstar - only available in City Trial Free Run mode. A Warpstar with superb gliding ability. Able to climb vertically. One of Bulbajer’s personal favorites. HP: 4; Speed: 3; Glide: 6; Offense: 3; Control: 3. Bulbajer’s rating: 3rd
